Behind every product and project at Place UK is a team of dedicated people. Over the coming months, we’ll be introducing you to some of the faces behind the business, sharing their stories, what they do, and what they enjoy most about working here.
First up is Ernestas Nadvaravicius, our operations manager, who has been with Place UK since 2021. Overseeing operations across our retail and freezer factories, Ernestas plays a key role in ensuring production runs smoothly while supporting the teams that make it all happen.
No such thing as a “typical” day
No two mornings are ever quite the same for Ernestas. As the factories open early, his day usually starts just after 7am, when he checks in with the shift managers to make sure production is up and running as planned and any issues are quickly resolved.
Once the factories are operating smoothly, his focus shifts to reviewing production reports, planning for meetings, preparing for customer visits, and supporting ongoing projects such as new product development and process improvements.
But you’ll rarely find him behind his desk for long.
Ernestas says: “I always try to get back onto the factory floor whenever I can, carrying out walkarounds, checking on health and safety, chatting with the teams and supporting our shift managers wherever needed.”
Thriving on variety
For Ernestas, one of the biggest attractions of the role is its variety.
“The job is fast-paced and engaging, which keeps me motivated and constantly learning,” he explains.
Working closely with colleagues across the business, he enjoys helping to develop and introduce new processes that improve the ways Place UK operates. And is always quick to recognise the people around him who help achieve this.
Ernestas adds: “I enjoy collaborating with other departments to develop and implement these improvements.
“Working alongside a strong and supportive team across all the factories, and having a reliable and engaged team supporting me makes a big difference to both performance and job satisfaction.”
Family-orientated culture
Before joining Place UK, Ernestas spent many years living and working in London. When the opportunity came up to relocate to Norfolk and join the business, he didn’t hesitate.
“It has been a great move. I really enjoy working at Place UK and living in Norfolk,” he says.
For Ernestas, the company’s family-oriented culture is what sets it apart.
“People genuinely support one another and work collaboratively here. It’s clear that employees are well looked after, and the number of long-serving team members goes to show it’s a great place to work.”
Proud achievements
During his time with us, Ernestas has been involved in several exciting developments, from introducing new processes and launching products. More than anything, however, it’s the people who stand out.
He says: “I’m particularly proud of the strong team we’ve built across all the factories. We’ve developed a culture of trust, collaboration and support, and that’s been key to delivering strong results.”
