Behind every successful business you’ll find brilliant people, and at Place UK we’re proud to celebrate the dedicated individuals who make up our highly skilled and valued team.
In our Meet the Team series, we’re shining a spotlight on colleagues from across the business, so you can learn more about their roles, their career journeys and what they enjoy most about being part of Place UK.
We hope it gives you a little insight into what working life is like here.
This month, we’re catching up with Antoaneta, our Health & Safety Advisor, who has been with us for 10 years. After building her career across several roles within the business, Antoaneta joined the Health & Safety team a year ago and plays a key role in creating a safe working environment across our sites.
Helping everyone work confidently and safely
Antoaneta’s days are varied and people-focused – whether visiting sites, carrying out inspections, or supporting our teams with practical guidance, the priority is always to help everyone work confidently and safely.
“There’s no typical day,” she explains. “The main goal is to help prevent accidents and create a positive safety culture across the business.”
For Antoaneta, the most rewarding part of this role is knowing that her work has a genuine impact on people’s wellbeing.
“Every day, I leave work knowing I’ve helped make someone’s workplace safer. It’s great to see people taking health and safety seriously and putting our advice into practice. It’s all about making sure everyone gets home safely to their families.”
While many assume that health and safety is simply about paperwork and compliance, Antoaneta says there’s much more to the role.
“A big part of the job is building relationships, communicating with people and finding practical solutions that work for everyone”, she explains.
Another rewarding part of working at Place UK is sampling our British-grown produce, with Antoaneta having a particular soft spot for one delicious fruit.
“My favourite has to be our cherries. They’re fantastic quality and it’s great to see all the hard work that goes into producing them.”
Support and opportunity
Having spent a decade at Place UK, Antoaneta says it’s the people and the opportunities that have encouraged her to stay.
“We have a very supportive team, there are a lot of opportunities for career development, and I take great pride in knowing that my work makes a real difference,” she says.
“Everyone is approachable and people are always willing to help each other.”
Antoaneta’s journey is a fantastic example of the career development opportunities available at Place UK, and we love to see people flourish and grow.
First joining the business as a seasonal worker before progressing into a warehouse operative role, in 2025 Antoaneta was appointed as Health & Safety Advisor and, as part of her ongoing development, went on to achieve her NEBOSH qualification – a globally recognised health, safety and environmental management credential.
Kat, our Head of HR, says, “We’re incredibly proud of Antoaneta’s achievement. Not only did she deliver outstanding exam results, but it has been fantastic to see her grow in confidence, expand her knowledge and continue developing her skills.
“Her dedication and enthusiasm are helping to strengthen a positive safety culture across our sites, where everyone feels empowered to work safely and look out for one another.”
Thank you to Antoaneta for sharing her story – from seasonal worker to Health & Safety professional, her journey reflects what Place UK is all about: creating growth opportunities, developing new skills and making a difference every day.
